If you plan on going live bait fishing on a regular basis for crappie it is a good idea to stock your tackle box with only the tackle you will need to make your crappie live bait fishing rigs.If you plan on only fishing crappie minnows than your tackle box may be quite small. But if plan on tipping artificial crappie jigs and spinners then you’re your tackle box and size will be much bigger.

A good starting point would be to stock crappie fishing tackle to fish with a live bait like fathead crappie minnows. To fish with crappie minnows you will need a nice assortment of crappie Aberdeen gold hooks ranging in size from number 4 through number 1. Have at least 10 of each on hand. If you plan on fishing larger crappie minnows such as shiners then you will need 1/0 to 2/0 Aberdeen gold hooks. Again keep a minimum of 10 each on hand.

It is best to have a good seleection of crappie fishing bobbers on hand to fish at different water depths. You will need small fixed depth bobbers, I use a Styrofoam bobber that slides on your line and then you put a small wooden stick at the top of the bobber to keep the line from sliding through. You can move the bobber up and down the line you need to remove the stick first, then replace it once you are at your desired depth.

It is very important if you are going to go bait fishing for suspended crappie to have an assortment of different slip boobers. Slip bobbers come in a assortment of different sizes and shapes. One of my favorite types for suspended crappie is a pencil shaped slip bobber. Make sure you size your slip bobber to the size of the live bait you plan on fishing with, and the sinker size you intend to use. If you are fishing deep water you will need more weight to get you bait down to the desired depth quickly. As a result you will need a larger slip bobber. You want your slip bobber to just barely stay afloat with your live bait and sinker attached so you you can notice the very slightest of crappie hits. You also do not want the crappies to feel any line resistance when they take your live bait presentation.

If you plan on fishing for crappies with any crappie jigs that you plan on tipping with live bait then you will need at least a selection different plain jigs in various sizes, from 1/64 ounce to 1/16 ounce. Have at least a quantity of 5 each of the different sizes. You will be able to cast the smaller jigs if you add a bobber.

You also will need to keep a spool of 4 to 8 pound test line in your tackle box for situations were you are fishing with ultra light crappie fishing tackle. You should also have a spool of 15lb test line in case you find an area to fish heavy brush or weed cover. It better to bend your Aberdeen hooks then break your line in these situations. A good quick fishing knot to use when you are crappie fishing is the Palomar knot. And this knot works well for any test line you will use.

Another very useful piece of crappie fishing tackle that works great for brushy or thick weed areas is the safety pin spinner and you should have a t least an assortment of 5 each in your tackle box. They are easy to use and assemble directly your existing crappie jigs. They not only ad some flash to your crappie live bait presentation but they also make your crappie fishing rig weedless. The safety pin spinner bait is also a good way to get the crappies attention on a slow fishing day. Remove any plastic from your jig and slide on a fathead crappie minnow and let the spinner bait do its work.

Oregon Seafood Hillsboro Oregon

1 The population of wild salmon declined markedly in recent decades especially north Atlantic populations which spawn in the waters of Western Europe and eastern Canada and wild salmon in the Snake and Columbia River system in northwestern United States predominately Oregon. The decline is attributed to the following factors.

2 The disease transfer from open net cage salmon farming, especially sea lice. The European Commission (2002) concluded “The reduction of wild salmon in abundance is also linked to other factors but there is more and more scientific evidence establishing a direct link between the number of lice-infested wild fish and the presence of cages in the same estuary.” It is reported that wild salmon on the west coast of Canada are being driven to extinction by sea lice from nearby salmon farms.

3 For Atlantic Salmon it takes as few as eight sea lice to kill the fish. On the Pacific Coast where the counts are much smaller only one or two can be critical, often resulting in death. In the Atlantic, sea lice have been a proven factor in both Norwegian and Scottish salmon declines. In the Western Atlantic there has been little research at sea but sea lice numbers in the period post 2000 do not appear to be a significant factor in the critical decline of endangered inner Bay of Fundy salmon. The situation may have been different in the 1980's and 1990's but we are unlikely ever to know the factual history in that regard.

4 The overfishing in general but especially commercial netting in the Faroes and Greenland. Ocean and river warming which can delay spawning and accelerate transition to smolting.

5 The ulcerative dermal necrosis (UDN) infections of the 1970s and 1980s which severely affected adult salmon in freshwater rivers. Loss of suitable freshwater habitat, especially degradation of stream pools and reduction of suitable material for the excavation of redds. Historically stream pools were, to a large extent, created by beavers. With the extirpation of the beaver, the nurturing function of these ponds was lost.

6 The reduction of the retention of the nutrients brought by the returning adult salmon in stream pools. Without stream pools, dead adult salmon tend to be washed straight back down the streams and rivers. The construction of dams weirs, barriers and other “flood prevention” measures, which bring severe adverse impacts to river habitat and on the accessibility of those habitats to salmon. This is particularly true in the northwest USA, where large numbers of dams have been built in many river systems, including over 400 in the Columbia River Basin.

7 Other environmental factors such as light intensity and water flow, or change in temperature dramatically affects salmon during their migration season. The loss of invertebrate diversity and population density in rivers is because of modern farming methods and various sources of pollution thus reducing the food availability.

8 Reduction in freshwater base flow in rivers and disruption of seasonal flows because of diversions and extractions, hydroelectric power generation, irrigation schemes, barge transportation, and slack water reservoirs all inhibit normal migratory processes and increase predation for salmon.

9 The loss of suitable low gradient stream habitats due to agricultural practices such as the removal of riparian plants and destabilization of stream banks by livestock and irrigation processes. There are efforts to relieve this situation. As such several governments and NGO's are sharing in research and habitat restoration efforts.

10 Results overall are showing that estuary problems exist for some rivers, but issues involving feeding grounds at sea are impacting populations as well. In 2008 returns were markedly improved for Atlantic salmon on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, but no one knows if this is a temporary improvement or sign of a trend.

Click Here To See A Secret Weapon For Crappie fishing My Friend Discovered In 2004

Crappies naturally will suspend at certain depth where they are in close proximity of any unsuspecting prey. Crappies typically are called many different names by local fisherman such as calico bass, speckled bass, speckled perch, white perch, pole crappie, strawberry bass, and papermouth. pole crappie are notorious up feeders so they will suspend at depths that they can attack their prey above them or to the side of them, but never below them. You will want to place your crappie bait presentations, like crappie live baits and artificial crappie jigs so the are at eye level, in front, to the side of , or above suspended speckled bas.

In natural lakes paper mouth will relate to the deepest edge points of weedlines. The

speckled perch will also suspend at the edge of drop offs and hard pan to mucky bottom break lines. It’s critical that you have a sensitive and accurate depth finder, fish finder to fish for suspended crappie. You nee this very valuable piece of your crappie fishing tackle to identify potential areas that the crappie will be suspended at.

In late summer suspended crappie will be located at the edge of deep growing, low lying weed. If this type of vegetation is common throughout the lake you are fishing, a good crappie fishing pattern would be to fish these edges using a variety of crappie baits such as crappie jigs and soft plastic grubs or tubes tipped with wax worms, or crappie live baits such as crappie minnows or shiners.

In lakes where weed lines do not extend all the way to the edge of drop offs, speckled bas will be suspended just of the drop off point at a depth equal to the bottom of the weed line. The suspend at this depth to wait for unsuspecting prey coming in and out of the weeds, like small bait fish or small crayfish. In very clear lakes weed lines will typically grow past and down into the drop off. papermouth will often suspend at the horizontal and vertical positions clos to the edge of the weeds, here again waiting for unsuspecting prey.

In very clear lakes or reservoirs you will want to use crappie baits such as live crappie minnows, shiners, crayfish, or shad if they are native to your lake or reservoir, using ultralight crappie fishing tackle. You will want very thin dia test lines like 2 to 4lb test monofilament or 8lb braided fire line. You will need to use very small artificial crappie fishing baits like crappie jigs with plastic grubs and tubes. Some of the more popular crappie fishing jigs that work well are .

Walleyes are very active at night at this time of year in all bodies of water that have walleye and pickerel populations. I would like to offer you some tips on how to catch walleye or pickerel in some very good early night fishing hot spots in the spring.

The old and reliable trolling technique works well at night also. You will need to target areas that are less then 12ft deep at night. One very good area to work is rock rubble areas that are close to vegetation. The best spots to target first with rock and rubble and vegetation are the ones connected with shorelines. Put main lake areas with these conditions down on your priority list after you have exhausted the shore line connected areas.

This time of year is best to catch walleye for you shoreline casters . A good way to attract some fish to you is to use a underwater fishing light which is sometimes called a submerged fishing light. After you locate your casting spot you will need to anchor your underwater fishing light to the bottom. Now move away from the light at least 100ft and start your casting at the edges of the lights beam. You can do this after the underwater fishing light has been submerged for about 20 minutes. Underwater fishing lights or submerged light sources are great attractors of bait fish and other walleye food sources. Live baits like large fathead minnows work well to catch walleye. Do not use night crawlers and leeches this time of year.

The best places to go to catch walleye at night and you are fishing from the shore are areas that are rock and rubble in areas that the walleye typically spawn. Look for areas with rock and rubble that also have vegetation present. These areas will hold natural forage such as walleye minnows that the walleye will be feeding on. Concentrate on points where vegetation and rock and rubble merge. when you find a good night fishing spot you can set up your night fishing light and you will be ready to go. You should also look for hard bottom current areas which will concentrate walleyes at night during the early spring period. areas that have vegitation and narrow into smaller fisheries that offer hard bottom and current are good places to go shoreline fishing. This could be a hot spot for a night fishing set up using your submerged fishing light source.

We hope the information in this article about submerged fishing lights. Have a great day!
